THURSDAY, JULY 1, 2010<\/SPAN><\/P>\n It\'s hard to believe, but today was the last day of classes, since tomorrow we will be hosting the Sebago World Cup soccer tournament. This will be our first World Cup, which will now be an every four year event at Sebago Leadership Camp, in synch with the slightly less prestigious FIFA World Cup. But meanwhile, everyone enjoyed their last climb, their final improv instruction, and catechism Final Jeopardy.<\/SPAN><\/P>\n During lunch we saw our first rain since Sunday, but that passed quickly and we were able to get in a full slate of games, which are important ways for teams to score points toward winning the Sebago Cup. The boys can\'t seem to get enough soccer - there was a giant game during the free time, a 9-7 nailbiter. There was also a good crew down at the lake, and many cabins spent the end of the free time working on their talent show.<\/SPAN><\/P>\n This evening the boys are now in the midst of their annual Treasure Hunt. The counsleors have worked hard come up with a challenging set of clues to get to that coveted treasure trove of candy.<\/SPAN><\/P>\n Tomorrow things build to a crescendo with the World Cup and Talent Show! Lot\'s of points are in play, and nay team can still win the Cup!<\/SPAN><\/P>\n WEDNESDAY, JUNE 30, 2010<\/SPAN><\/P>\n Last night\'s campfire was spectacular. Coach Pacific picked up the permit, then scoured the woods for fallen branches and tree trunks so that we could have a fire big enough to be seen from the moon. The boys chanted, sang, and swapped jokes and stories. <\/SPAN><\/P>\n Today was another bright and beautiful day. After the morning run, breakfast, and Mass, the boys continued to swarm the climbing wall. Every boy has had the chance to try either the beginner, intermediate, or expert climb - they\'re fast becoming experts on what it takes to enjoy this fast-growing sport! In theater improv, they continue to move through more challenging games and exercises, which should really pay off when they hit the stage for the talent show on Friday. Fr. Joe\'s \"Jeopardy\" format for catechism is making that a fun and competitive activity as well.<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P>\n After lunch the various sports competitions resumed, and there were some hard-fought contests in kickball, soccer, whiffle ball, and ultimate frisbee. The wind has kicked up a notch, so everyone is learning how to use the wind to their advantage when they throw the frisbee.<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P>\n Capture the Flag was back by popular demand for the night game. <\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P>\n TUESDAY, JUNE 29, 2010 The day started with a thick fog bank from Sebago Lake hovering over the main campus green. <\/SPAN>Everyone needed a good night\'s sleep after the giant game of Manhunt that roamed over the campus last night. <\/SPAN>One of the highlights was the last game – campers against counselors. <\/SPAN>Any impartial observer would say that the campers more than held their own! <\/SPAN> Earlier on Monday we had the annual parade of flags and the announcement of team names. <\/SPAN>This year the contenders for the Sebago cup are: Adam’s A-Team of Arc Angles (a team that either loves math or is bad at spelling!) Buff Babushkas CSI:Cobras Ducks Exterminators Fancy Pants Guerilla Gorillas Hexagonal Hedgehogs As of late yesterday the Buff Babushka’s were ahead in points, but not by much. <\/SPAN>Everyone is still in strong contention. After presenting the flags, Andrew Fernandez was serenaded by everyone on the occasion of his 14th<\/SUP> birthday. <\/SPAN>Lots of good voices here! This morning several of the cabins have their alarms set to play motivational music to get the blood pumping for the first event of the day. <\/SPAN>Coach Pacific led the morning run and stretching exercises, which this morning focused on the hamstrings. <\/SPAN>He had the boys do some backwards running drills up the hill on the Main Green. <\/SPAN>After cabin clean-up and Mass, the boys again proceeded to the rock climbing wall, the theater improv class, and catechism with Fr. Joe. After lunch (in the cafeteria this year instead of the bag lunches of years past) and the counselor talks, the teams resumed their pursuit of the Sebago Cup with spirited games of whiffle ball, ultimate Frisbee, kickball, and soccer. <\/SPAN>Two of this year’s campers are from Spain, as well as Alvaro Aranguren, one of our senior staff, so they have been anxiously tracking their team’s progress through the World Cup. <\/SPAN>The soccer skills at Sebago look every bit as good! This afternoon we continued with the swimming tests on the lake, and the boys enjoyed using the kayaks and canoes. <\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P>\n Tonight we have a campfire at the lake!<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P>\n <\/SPAN>Stay tuned!<\/SPAN><\/P>\n <\/SPAN> <\/P>\n \n MONDAY, JUNE 27, 2010<\/P>\n Check out arrival photos on our Camp Photos Page!<\/P>\n Check out the Cabin Rosters on our Sports Page!<\/P>\n We\'re off! We had a great first day of the camp, beginning with counselor arrival at 10:30 and camper arrival at 3:00. There were a few sprinkles at mid-day, but by check-in is was dry and the boys enjoyed a game a frisbee after checking in. We had our camp intors, distributed camp tee shits, and had dinner. The boys then divided into their cabins and began coming up with cabin names and designing the cabin flag. The names will be formally announced at the Parade of Flags this afternoon.<\/P>\n After dinner we had the welcome Mass for the camp. This year the CITs are our lectors, and one of the campers will serve Mass. Later in the evening we had our inaugural night game: Capture the Flag! The combined empire of cabins A\/B\/C\/D took first place honors. The complete list of cabins and cabin members is posted on the Sports page.<\/P>\n Today we woke up to a torrential downpour, but Coach Pacific saved the day by bringing all the cabins indoors for some stretching and health advice. After a hearty breakfast and Mass, activities are underway. Ed Hardy is teaching the rock climbing class, Fr. Joe is teaching catechism, and Billy Cavanagh, Tom Keefe, and Joe St. Thomas are teaching the theater improv class.<\/P>\n More to follow!<\/P>\n <\/P>");
